We all know that kitchen sponges have a hard life.

Normal sponges don’t seem to last very long at all and end up in our waste bins almost as soon as we start to use them.

With many being non recyclable and containing plastics clearly they must be another candidate for an eco friendly swap.

Thankfully some companies are starting to produce natural kitchen sponges made from cotton or linen. These materials are ideal as they are much tougher than the standard dish sponges you’d buy in the supermarket.

As well as this they last so much longer than their counterparts and of course these materials can be biodegradable which means that you don’t need to worry about what happens after the products very long life. It will return to the earth after a few months.

One thing we like about these particular sponges is that when you feel it has done its job in the kitchen you can still use it for many other purposes around the home extending its usable life.
