The bathroom can be a place of sanctuary for us as well as a seeming like a necessity on those mornings we get up slightly late. For this reason we have dedicated an entire category to eco friendly bathroom products.
The products we use in our bathrooms are usually essential but also consumable meaning they run out often so there is a lot of potential for eco friendly swaps in this room.
As you can imagine there is a wealth of options for us to move our bathroom routines towards a plastic free and zero waste zone and in this category we’ve tried to stock the items we think are the best but most importantly, the ones that you’ll love.

What eco friendly bathroom products are we talking about ?
Take a quick tour of your bathroom and look for products that need constantly replacing or refilling. I bet you will find a lot especially if you share a bathroom.
As with kitchens our bathrooms act almost like a magnet for plastic. It feels like everything we buy comes in a plastic bottle or container.
The great news is that we can make a big difference in this room when it comes to eco friendly alternatives.
Below are some examples of eco friendly bathroom products that you will recognise.
Eco Friendly Dental Care
Dental care is an extremely important part of our healthcare routine and something we attend to at least twice a day.
Interestingly there are a good amount of products on the market to satisfy even the most health conscious among us including toothpaste, mouthwash and dental floss.
Toothpaste comes in different forms when you switch to a more organic alternative.
The introduction of toothtablets seems odd but they really do work well.
Other products such as oil pulling mouthwash and vegan floss are all available for you to swap.
Solid Soap, Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash
Solid form soaps have many benefits not least that they are usually made of natural ingredients so no hidden toxins or micro plastics.
You also have to work at the bar initially and so you end up using less of the product overall.
Plastic containers are in the main non-existent in soild forms of soap with products arriving in either no packaging or packaging that is biodegradable or at very least recyclable.
Natural Bathroom Cleaners
In the way that soap and shampoo comes in various plastic containers bathroom cleaners tend to arrive in the same way.
We love our cleaning sprays and so it may not be possible to remove these from our lives completely but instead of using a bottle once and then discarding it you can choose to use top up refills which are made from natural ingredients.
The refills not only mean you are using a product that is natural but you’ll be using that same spray bottle for years.
Organic Face Cloths, Sponges and Wipes
Face cloths and sponges are notorious for containing plastic and sadly many products shed micro plastics which get flushed away only to find their way to our rivers and oceans. This is not great for our marine life.
It is great to see various companies attacking this problem head on and producing products from sustainable, natural materials such as organic cotton. Being natural they tend to be biodegradable as well which is another massive benefit.
Face wipes and makeup rounds are used at an alarming rate and although they are usually made from recyclable materials the constant disposal of these items seems madness.
Reusable makeup rounds are now fairly commonplace. As with the organic face cloths they are made from natural material and can be washed easily in the washing machine.
Sustainable Hairbrushes, Combs and Nail Brushes
There are some really lovely designed hairbrushes and combs on the market today but the likelihood is they will be made from plastic or similar.
Sustainable wood tends to be the go to material for making sustainable options for the various brushes we use in the bathroom.
Being wood of course, it will fully degrade at the end of its very long life.
Conclusion
There are so many products that we use in the bathroom that are candidates for eco friendly swaps and with us using many of them daily if not more then there is a real opportunity for change.
If we add up all of the small changes we make it will create a much bigger difference than we realise and so I’d encourage you to switch to eco friendly bathroom products – you’ll find plenty of items in this category to help you on your journey.
And we’re always here to help.
